About

We price it. We don't sell it.

YardBuff exists to answer one question honestly: what does this piece of yard equipment actually cost to buy and to own?

Shopping for a mower, a snow blower, a chainsaw, or a generator is a mess of conflicting numbers. The retailer's page pushes whatever's in stock. The brand leads with its flagship. The review channel links the priciest model because that's the bigger commission. Nobody just tells you the real range for each type, or adds up the fuel and maintenance the sticker leaves out.

That's the gap YardBuff fills. We're the buff who actually knows the gear and gives you the number straight: what a push mower costs versus a zero-turn, why a $250 chainsaw with a sharp chain beats a neglected $500 one, and what a standby generator really runs once the install is in. We price the machines. We don't sell them.

Who writes this

YardBuff is published by the YardBuff Team as a brand, not under a personal byline. Our credibility comes from the work: every price is checked against manufacturer and major-retailer listings, dated on the page, and backed by the sources we cite. You can check our numbers, which matters more than whose name is on them.

How we work

  • We price by type and tier, because type decides cost long before brand does.
  • We add the total cost of ownership: purchase plus fuel, upkeep, and, where it applies, installation.
  • Every price is checked against a primary source (manufacturer or major retailer) and dated in the copy.
  • Prices move, so cost pages carry a standing note to confirm the current price before you buy, and we re-check them on a schedule.
  • Corrections are welcome and get fixed. Email us anytime.

More detail on our approach is on the how we price it page.

How we stay independent

Some links on this site are affiliate links, which means we may earn a commission if you buy through them, at no cost to you. That never decides what we cover or which type we recommend; we point you to the machine that fits your yard, not the one that pays us most. Full detail is on the disclosure page.
